The Power of Uplifting Architecture

Cécile Headshot

Cécile is an architect whose career is dedicated to crafting elegant buildings with a clarity of space and conceptual rigour. Over the last 20 years, Cécile has developed a portfolio of award-winning international projects in the cultural, sports and leisure, educational, housing, and mixed-use sectors with a smart and strategic approach to complex briefs. She is motivated by the creation of long-lasting places that enhance the experience and lives of their users.

Before joining Gensler as a Design Director, Cécile co-founded and co-directed Brisac Gonzalez for 20 years, followed by founding and leading Atelier Brisac for 5 years. Both studios produced award-winning projects in the UK, France and Sweden, that combine architectural and urban qualities and enrich the sites they are located in.

Cécile studied at the Architectural Association in London. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, such as the NAJA Young Architects’ award in France, the ARHVA Award for Women Architects in France, and the AJ 40 under 40 Award in the UK. She is a regular lecturer and visiting critic, has taught at the Architectural Association where she was also an external examiner, and has been involved in the wider architectural community throughout her career. She is a member of RIBA, the Ordre des Architectes, the Architecture Club and the Royal Academy of Belgium.
