Alien Staff Exhibition: The Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series
Following his powerful spring 2025 talk exploring the intersection of art, technology and social justice, internationally renowned artist Krzysztof Wodiczko returns to Kent State University for an immersive workshop with architecture and art students, culminating in a gallery conversation and public exhibition opening at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15.
The Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series: Krzysztof Wodiczko Exhibition “Alien Staff” highlights mediating devices, amplifying the voices of those grappling with cultural, social, and political challenges. These experimental instruments–extensions of his long-standing practice–are designed as tools for individuals who experience alienation, displacement, distress or identity crises in the contemporary world.
Kent State University's College of the Arts and College of Architecture and Environmental Design proudly continue the esteemed Thomas Schroth Memorial Visiting Artist Series, a dynamic platform launched in 2001 to bring celebrated artists and designers to Kent State and the Northeast Ohio community.
Named in honor of regional architect Thomas Schroth, whose global perspective framed creativity as a "window onto human experience," the series has featured acclaimed guests including Tony Award winner Stephen Schwartz, the Grammy-winning Emerson String Quartet, minimalist icon Richard Tuttle, and fashion visionaries Ruben and Isabel Toledo.
